Corr Mhóna are a West Cork metal band. Our music is a blend of several different genres, with doom and death metal elements more prominent. There are also classical, traditional, prog and other influences on our music, and we use several different styles of guitar while recording.

Variations of vocal styles are an important part of our music, and we use clean and heavy vocals both live and on record, with combinations of harmonies and arrangements all sung by three vocalists within the band. We strive to recreate these vocals in a live setting, as it is important to us to perform our music as close to the original recordings as possible. We also make use of naturally occurring sound effects to compliment our music. We record these live in locations around Ireland.

Corr Mhóna sing entirely in the Irish language (Gaeilge) and take great pride in engaging with and promoting our native tongue. We will always write, sing and perform in Irish. (In fact, this website is available in Irish/Gaeilge). There is no attempt to be esoteric in this, and we will fully engage with anyone in either English, Irish or both languages. The band originated in and around the town of Bandon. It consists of two pairs of brothers, who have played and enjoyed music together for many years. Having already played in other bands, we decided to start our own project together around 2011. It would be several years before it came to fruition, however.

When we released our demo and subsequent e.p. (An Chéad Thríail and Corrguineacht, see here for details) the music public of Ireland began to take notice. Our music was well received in website/magazine reviews, on forums and on social media. Gigs across Ireland and in Belfast and London followed, as Corr Mhóna brought its powerful live sound to bear upon the listening public.
